Join us this Friday, May 14th, from 9:00-10:00 am UTC+2 (https://tinyurl.com/fekrbze5) to hear Anne Luther present her project „Digital Benin: Connecting Museum Data“.
Digital Benin will digitally unite the globally dispersed works of art from the former Kingdom of Benin and as an unparalleled forum of knowledge it will, within the next two years, bring together object data and related documentation material from collections worldwide and provide the long-requested overview of the royal artworks looted in the 19th century on an online platform. The presentation will give an introduction to the first phase of the two-year project in which we explored the museum landscape internationally on their various forms and formats of data storing and data publication.
Dr. Anne Luther is an information technology consultant with a focus in digital scholarship, cultural heritage data, and data visualization. She is a Principal Investigator for Digital Benin, a two-year project funded by the Ernst-von-Siemens Kunststiftung. Between 2015-2018 she was the research manager at the Center for Data Arts at The New School in New York and built an emphasis on the analysis of museum data and leading data sprints, workshops, international research collaborations, software development, and publications. She received her PhD from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London.
