A new research paper by Anaïs Siebers and R. Melis Baydag has been published under Playful Writing. The paper explores the materiality of programming languages drawing on Paul Dourish’s book “The Stuff of Bits” (2017). It focuses on the comparison of arrays, or data structures, in the programming languages Java and Python, examining how the materiality of these languages is shaped by different use-cases and in turn shapes the possibilities of working with these languages.
